About The Ski Journal
The Ski Journal is published by funny feelings LLC, publishers of
frequency The Snowboarder’s Journal since 2001. The world’s
first coffee-table snowboard publication, and winner of the national Maggie
Award for Best Quarterly, frequency TSJ quickly caught the attention
of the world’s skiers. Soon, they were asking when we would be publishing
something of the same high-quality for them. Now we are.
funny feelings LLC is located in Bellingham, WA near legendary Mt. Baker and
it’s 700+ annual inches, as well as Whistler-Blackcomb, and the North
Cascade Wilderness Area.
Jeff Galbraith, Publisher and Editor
A lifelong skier, former editor of Snowboarder Magazine, and former
contributor to Powder, Peak, Surfer, Rolling Stone, and Time
magazines, Jeff helped found and has directed frequency TSJ to five years
of success. His family built and managed Alpental ski area outside Seattle
in the late 1960’s.
Grant Gunderson, Photo Editor
One of the NW’s most talented young photographers, Grant has shot for
Powder, Freeskier, Skier, and plenty of commercial clients. He skis
close to 100 days a year and makes a high quality (and high-octane) homebrewed
ale.
Kris Kaiyala, Senior Editor
Founder of aspectjournal.com, a website devoted to skiing's top writers and
their stories, Kris has contributed to Powder, Skier, MountainZone.com,
MSNBC.com, and MSN.com. His passion and eye for detail come
through in his words. He makes his kids ski at Alpental so they don't turn
into Snoqualmie wussies.
Mark Epstein AKA “The Jerk”, Online Editor/Editorial Director
A Freeze Magazine founding influence, Mark is one of skiing’s most well-known
and liked journalists. He has traveled the world for years documenting skiing’s
greatest accomplishments. Currently he focuses on digital design and production
and has worked with such clients as K2, Armada, and others. We are stoked
to have him on board. Mark goes totally Bogus at the Basin, dude.
Matt Wibby, Advertising and Marketing Coordinator
A former K2 intern, Wibby came to work at funny feelings two years ago when
our publisher pulled over and picked him up hitchhiking up to the mountain.
Matt’s attitude remains this committed. Contact him about advertising,
retail, events, and how to score cheap domain names. Matt is a freestyle freeheeling
freedog extraordinaire.
Jessie Lu Lovett/Jessie Lü Designs, Creative Director
frequency TSJ’s art director for the past five years, Jessie
Lu has set the standard in action sports for clean design with her award winning
print and web designs. Working with a diverse range of clients including Recco
avalanche rescue systems, Seattle’s Best Coffee, Microsoft, and Scott
