In the near darkness of a twilight blizzard there’s no mistaking the lights of Riksgränsen.
It’s a long drive through northern Sweden, a dozen hours of rocks, trees and the occasional frightened reindeer. Only the intermittent ski hills erupting from an otherwise ice-flattened landscape have kept us alert, signaling towns and their attendant fuel, food, coffee and toilets.
