Community

The action of skiing itself is intensely personal—a truly individual form of expression. The culture surrounding skiing, however, forms a tightly-knit and community. Whether you’re 10 years old or 80, condo-based or camper van-dwelling, a beginner or badass, at the end of the day we are all united by our passion for P-Tex, powder and pointing our tips downhill.


A community of any kind is a group of people who act together for the benefit of everyone in the group. In skiing, that community is bound together by having something on your feet that allows you to slide down a snow-covered hill. The community of skiers is worldwide, with ski lifts in North America, Asia, Israel, South America—everywhere and anywhere there is snow.

Over the many years I traveled the globe with my skis and camera I was welcomed into countless communities of skiers, all who wanted the world to know what a great place their spot in the mountains was, and enjoyed sharing it with the rest of the world. I never did visit a ski community that did not want people to join them in the freedom they found on their own particular mountain, whoever they were or wherever they were from…
