"Bolivia: sand, wind, heat-cracked dreams."--thus starts the 8th episode of Sweetgrass’s "On the Road with Solitaire" series, chronicling the crew's gritty and semi-masochistic attempt at skiing Sajama, Bolivia's highest peak. Due to a dental catastrophe, they miss the window for Sajama. Instead, they go to Plan Z, and head for Parinacota, a nearby volcano and one of a pair of 20,000-foot volcanoes that surround Sajama. The journey isn't exactly epic or look fun--it's through one of the driest places on Earth--but they get the summit and get the turns they were looking for. Check and check.
