Pillow Line by Kari Medig
Photographer Kari Medig won Nelson's Cold Smoke photo competition (our own Grant Gunderson took second) with this slideshow shot completely in the bedroom...but don't worry kids, it's rated PG.

Retallack Lodge with Orage
Retallack, BC (January 12, 2010) – For our JP Auclair feature in Issue #3.3, I spent a week at Retallack Lodge with the Orage Pro Team. We got hammered with snow, sun, cold, and some of the best turns of my life with a tight crew in a relaxed setting—basically as good a cat week as you can ask for. Check out the just-released video from the trip and a bonus gallery of images featuring Michelle Parker, TJ Schiller and Phil Casabon—and if you missed it, check our online bonus feature with extra copy and images from our interview with JP.

Deep Winter Photo Challenge -- Jordan Manley Threepeat
Whistler, BC (January 9, 2010) -- Jordan Manley's entry in Whistler's Deep Winter Photo Challenge, the fourth annual edition of the event, barely beat out Paul Morrison to take his third straight win at the event. Reports are, however, that it was almost too close to call and the whole field put together very strong shows, with Morrison taking Best-In-Show-Photo and "King of the Storms". The premise was simple: shoot inbounds on Whistler-Blackcomb for three days and put together a five-minute slideshow documenting those days, presented judged before a live audience of 1,00-ish people. Here's Paul's second place slideshow for you to enjoy.

Getting Inverted: The Christmas Chute at Kicking Horse on Boxing Day
Golden, BC (January 2, 2010) – Temperature inversions are an interesting phenomenon. In some cases, it can mean the peaks are hammered with spring-like conditions while the lower mountain provides nothing but freezing groomers in shadowy cold. But in other cases it can mean the skiing only gets better as you work your way to the valley floor. Such was the case on a recent holiday trip to Golden, BC, and Kicking Horse Mountain Resort (KHMR).
