Tuckerman's Ravine, a slope on New Hampshire's Mt. Washington, boasts "No chairlift, no rope town, no nothin." Despite the austerity, "Tuckerman" has played an important role in the history of U.S. skiing, which is why thousands still make a yearly pilgrimage to the hill. In addition to the throwback atmosphere, the ravine also has something not found on many East Coast mountains: avalanche danger. An interesting story throughout, put together by Zach Ornitz. 

Some clips, like this edit of Simon Dumont and Justin Dorey seshing the pipe at Breck, remind us just how much high-def video has enhanced how we see our sport. Judging by his double-cork ender, we'd guess that Dumont will be ready for the first Olympic pipe competition ever.
