Camp of Champions for July 4

Whistler, BC (July 8, 2009) — With bluebird conditions in the forecast, I made for the Camp of Champions on the Blackcomb Glacier this Fourth of July, and it didn’t dissapoint: an array of features from small and jibby to big tables with perfectly groomed takeoffs awaited–the diggers at Camp of Champions had the left half of the glacier set up right for every level of skier.

And the festivities in the village, while lacking fireworks, did not dissapoint, with at least five bridal parties making their way up and down the stroll under a hot summer night.

If you’re thinking about some glacier riding, conditions couldn’t be better, and slushy turns mixed with a few airs followed by a day at the lake is a good way to spend a weekend. Thanks go out to Ryan Proctor, Ken A and Fabia for getting me up there for the weekend.
