The third year of Wrangle the Chute Ultimate Big Mountain Challenge took place February 5th at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort in Golden, B.C. with a bevy of barbecue and a snowcat-suspended kicking horse leading up to the main event.
Amid a dense field of riders sticking 60-foot drops, Nelson B.C. native Mathew Montandon took the top spot, riding cleanly away after throwing a 360 down a 50-foot cliff drop. Besting second-place finisher Daryl Treadway by just two points, Montandon stood atop a podium that also included 15-year-old Logan Pehota. In the women’s division Golden local Wendy Burns took first.
