Despite the legends, “Japow” is not always guaranteed during trips to Japan–the season is short, and missing a neck-deep storm can come down to missing a single bullet train. Last January, Sammy Carlson, Karl Fostvedt, and Lucas Wachs  journeyed to Hakuba for a week, where–after multiple planes, trains and narrow mountain passes–they nailed perfect conditions.
