Buckle Up – K2 Recon & Luv Boot Launch Party Recap

It’s that time of year again – when the falling of leaves turns to the falling of snowflakes, and skiers around the northern hemisphere start habitually checking the snow forecast at their local hill for the first sign that turns are ready to be farmed. As we begin our opening day countdowns here in the pacific northwest, our friends at K2 invited us out to their new Development Center in Seattle, WA to commemorate the launch of their new line of alpine ski boots – the men’s Recon and women’s Luv Collection.

The night started out in downtown Seattle, where guests from all walks of the ski industry joined together with K2 employees and professional athletes – including Lexi Dupont, Amie Engerbretson, and Olympic Gold Medalist Jonny Moseley for beer and pizza before departing to the K2 headquarters. Upon arrival, attendees joined together with designers and engineers from the K2 product development team to get a behind the scenes look at what goes into the innovation process behind K2’s products. Here, skiing is serious business. It is also serious fun – and fun was surely had. As guests milled around the factory, snacking on a complementary and impressive spread of appetizers and indulging on local microbrews, DJ Baby van Beezley kept the stoke high and set the stage for an unforgettable night of preseason stoke.

But the team at K2 wasn’t about to let anybody go home empty handed – each guest had the opportunity to take home a brand new pair of either the new Recon or Luv boots for their very own.

But what exactly was all the hype about? What was so special about the new collection that warranted such a extravagant release?

In a word – innovation. The new Recon x Luv collection features a totally redesigned POWERLITE shell that achieves what the boot industry has been gunning for for years: lightweight agility and power. Couple this with a softer grade plastic around the instep for ease of entry and exit and a shell/liner combination that are both fully heat moldable, K2 is redefining the standard for a lightweight, high performing alpine boot.
