Yu Sasaki’s “Home from Home”
If you’re in the mood for some dreamy pow skiing, look no further.
Yu Sasaki’s Home from Home is a glimpse into the deepest days at the two places he’s called home: Japan and British Columbia.
There’s no doubt the Japanese skier is drawn to the snowiest places he can find. Born in Sapporo, Japan on the island of Hokkaido, Sasaki now calls Revelstoke, BC home. But although he’s raising his family in Canada, connection to his home country has always been important to Sasaki. He’s the owner of two food trucks in Revelstoke, Far East Bistro and Twilight Bite, bringing a taste of Japanese home cooking with him wherever he goes.
As he rips fast turns down big faces in Hakuba, it’s easy to see why he earned a wild card spot on the Freeride World Tour in 2020.
Take a ride with Sasaki, alongside Gen Sasaki and Ayana Onozuka (two top Japanese freeskiers) for this 8-minute short celebrating culture and bottomless turns.
