“The Way Back” with Amy Jane David

Horse-accessed ski lines are not something you see every day. But for Amy Jane David, it’s the ultimate way to combine the world she came from with the world she lives in.

“The Way Back” chronicles David, Tatum Monod and Emilé Zynobia’s late June adventure in the Wyoming Range, utilizing horses to access remote ski lines. The crew followed in the footsteps of David’s family, who homesteaded in the foothills of the Wyoming Range in the early 1900s.

A horsepacking ski trip is something David had dreamed about for a long time, blending her world as a professional skier, mountain guide and western roots. Finding two other women with a love for skiing and horseback riding wasn’t easy—in fact, this trip was the first time David, Monod and Zynobia actually met—but it didn’t take long for the women to hit it off as they navigated challenging spring conditions, long days on the trail and spicy ski lines.

The 30-minute film is a look into David’s life as a skier, her western roots and the unique friendship these three women formed while putting their trust in the animals carrying them through the wilderness.

Stay tuned for an exclusive look at Amy’s family history and the horsepack adventure later this winter.
