“On a trip to Girdwood, AK, last March, we got to ski this amazing spine zone that’s tough to get in the right conditions. I had crashed on a line earlier in the day, so this was kind of a redemption run to get back on the horse, shake out the cobwebs and dial back in. The upper half of the run had some technical terrain. I got a little wild, smashed into a spine and flew out onto this panel with some speed. This turn was a moment of relief, bleeding some of that speed and resetting for the lower spine.”—Sage Cattabriga-Alosa Photo: Nic Alegre

“In December, the sun only lasts a few hours per day at Finland’s Ruka Ski Resort. It’s also extremely cold, so there’s hardly anyone on the hill. It was hard for Antti Ollila to get enough speed for this air, since the hill above is so mellow, but he pushed hard with his poles and made it work.” Photo: Arttu Heikkinen
