Friends on a Pow Day
Caitlin Kelly
Originally from the coast of Maine, Caitlin Kelly has called the Adirondack Mountains home since 2016, building community through her work with Women of the Adirondacks and The Adirondack Community Avalanche Project. In the winter, she’s on skis as often as possible, either deep in the backcountry or patrolling at Whiteface Mountain. She currently resides in Lake Placid, NY, where she works for North Country Public Radio. Her writing has also appeared in Powder Magazine, Adirondack Life Magazine, Freeskier, Outside and SKI Magazine, among other publications. If you sit too close to her on a chairlift, you may get some glitter on you. Find her on Instagram at @caitlinelizabethk.
Fredrik MarmsaterWild peaks, faint trails and adventures with friends are what drive Fredrik Marmsater to chase light around the mountains. Born and raised in Sweden and now based in Teton Valley, ID, Fredrik has worked as a photographer for 15 years. He spends most of his time in mountain ranges around the world, shooting snow, mountain biking and trail running for a variety of outdoor brands. Fredrik likes to make loud rock noises on guitars when not shooting photos. His work can occasionally be found on Instagram at @fmarmsaterphoto.
Ross HewittRoss Hewitt learned to ski in the Scottish Highlands but was drawn to the steeps of Chamonix, France, as a teenager. Chamonix later became his adopted home, where he works as an IFMGA Mountain Guide and professional skier. Ross loves how skiing offers the ability to travel light and fast through the mountains in technical terrain, using a cocktail of mental, technical and physical abilities. The massive Himalayan Brenva and West faces of Mont Blanc have caught his attention in recent years, enabling him to add to a list of first descents on Canada’s Baffin Island, and in Norway and New Zealand. Morgan TiltonMorgan Tilton was on skis at age four in her backyard of Telluride Ski Resort, CO. Thirty years later, her life still revolves around winter as a snowboarder, snowmobiler and snow shoveler in Crested Butte, CO, where powder often buries her front door. Carrying four AIARE certifications, she loves studying snow science for both stories and personal missions. When not at Crested Butte Mountain Resort, she enjoys venturing up the surrounding Elk Mountain drainages. Tilton is a Senior Editor at GearJunkie, specializing in snowsports coverage.
