Lift G

There’s something about the afternoon light in December. Low angle, long shadows, the subtle glow on the darkest days. December forces us to slow down a bit, especially here in the Adirondack Mountains.

Whiteface Mountain hosted the Olympic Games in 1980, and we won’t let you forget it. Relics still litter the mountain—old scoreboards, start buildings and my personal favorite, the old, slow double chairlifts.

“Wanna ride up G?” I’ll say more times than I can count each winter.
