“Spring 2004—we were filming for Warren Miller’s Impact with Jenn Berg, photographer Scott Markewitz and filmer Chris Patterson at Alta, UT, racing other people for rope drops. It was one of the very first film shoots I was on. It was also one of the first times I had stepped up to a bigger air, and being with Jenn was one of the reasons I felt confident. Scott went around and probed the landing for us, which was incredibly thoughtful—not something I always would have thought of at that time in my career. I was at the top with Jenn and we weren’t sure about it but she encouraged me—that good positive peer pressure of ‘If you hit it, I will!’ So, I sent it. It was a flat-ish landing but very deep powder and I was psyched to hit a big air like that, a classic Alta shot—and ski out of it. The 4 feet of fresh snow helped, too.”
