Shop Talk

Decades spent as a skier are rife with couch surfing, warm beer and an on-point bullshit filter. The farther I travel, the more people I meet, the farther I fall into the rabbit hole of our sport’s lore and history.

Recently, I sat down to a dinner of stewed elk and cheese with none other than Ullr, the Norse God of Winter. After years of missed emails, I caught up to Ullr at the Mangy Moose in Teton Village, WY, where I found him entertaining the masses with tales of how he had met Skaade, time spent on the Norwegian ski ballet team and his yearly invasion of Antarctica. Not a fan of uncomfortable silences, Ullr wasted no time launching into conversation.
