The Blizzard of ‘Oz’

If you think dodging kangaroos on the road is exciting, try skiing the gum trees in Australia. When a storm hits down under (and yes Australia does get snow, and plenty of it), powder turns are as plentiful as the ‘roo roasts in the restaurants. World-renowned photographer and Australia native Tony Harrington provides the words and photos to take you there.

“In the distance Mt. Feathertop radiates colors of the rainbow as daybreak spreads across the roof of Australia. Just a few hours ago we were walking home trying to find our lodge through the blizzard. Now, at first light, we’re reveling in the storm’s rewards despite a collective hangover. Storms like this aren’t prevalent in Australia, but they do happen, you just have to be on it to ski it, and Mt. Hotham in northeastern Victoria is one of the best resorts to confront these southern hemisphere phenomenons…”
