Whistler Blackcomb Unveils Plan For New Lifts

Whistler Blackcomb recently announced their plan to install two new lifts in the Crystal Zone and the Harmony Zone. The $18 million expansion will significantly increase skier capacity and provide expediency to skiing existing zones.

A new high-speed quad is to be erected in the Crystal Zone, but will originate lower than the existing triple, increasing the vertical gain to 1,755 feet. This will allow skiers and riders to approach many Crystal Zone trails without using the Excelerator Chair. Meanwhile, the Harmony Chair will be upgrading from four to six seats, enabling the lift to bring 3,600 people to 1,200 acres of terrain every hour. The resort intends to complete the new construction by the beginning of the 2013-2014 season. For more technical and detailed information, check out the full release.
