The Line That Changed Skiing

Over skiing’s long, long history, there are a few specific moments that changed the sport. Jeremy Nobis’s 1997 descent of Pyramid, a monster face in Alaska, was one of those lines. While filming for Teton Gravity Research’s 1997 film, “Harvest,” Nobis absolutely blasted high-speed race turns down Pyramid, in a manner completely different than the jump-turn style of the era. That line–and that movie in general–changed the face of big mountain skiing forever.
