The Ski Journal Welcomes Katie Lozancich as Photo Editor

Mt. Baker, WA—The Ski Journal is very pleased to welcome Katie Lozancich to the team as our new Photo Editor.

Katie Lozancich has worked as an action sports photographer and storyteller for the past 10 years, working for Teton Gravity Research as Digital Content Coordinator & Contributor before starting her own freelance photography business.

Growing up in Sacramento, it wasn’t until after high school that Katie fell in love with skiing. She remembers seeing her first Warren Miller film as a teenager, which later prompted her to drop everything and move to Truckee, CA to pursue life in the mountains. She earned a degree in Photography from Sierra College as well as a degree in Visual Communications from Seattle Pacific University, before chasing winter to Jackson, WY. In 2023, Katie was recognized as a Red Bull Illume semi-finalist, and has produced features stories for Freehub Magazine, as well as multimedia campaigns for Arc’teryx, Red Bull, Pivot Cycles and Destination Queenstown.

She now calls western Massachusetts home where she also works as a ski instructor at Berkshire East, sharing her love of the sport with others.

“First, we want to recognize and thank Andrew Marshall for seven years of being a great photo editor and emissary for The Ski Journal. We look forward to his continuing as an emeritus part of the family, helping with special projects and features,” said Publisher Jeff Galbraith. “And we very much look forward to Katie Lozancich helping lead us into the next chapter. With her keen eye for imagery and a deep love for ski culture, The Ski Journal remains in great hands. Katie’s appreciation for both ski history and the wide-open future continues and strengthens The Ski Journal’s nearly twenty-year mission.”
